We honestly don't know why Google keeps on sending us so many free certificates for $100 in Google AdWords for new users, but we will take them. As usual, we will raffle off the certificate to a colleague (freelancers only, please) who answers one question correctly. We will e-mail the access code to the winning person so he or she can get started with Google AdWords. The certificate expires March 31, 2012.Here's the question: where was this picture taken? Hint: it was taken in the continental U.S. Give us the state/city/area, and you will win the prize!

Google sends the free certificates because the Google Advertising Programs is based on an auction system. If more users bid on a keyword the the ads get more expensive.
1. They whant to get new customers. And as a lot of certificate receivers share them among others Google gets what they want.
2. As users of free certificates are not very price sensetive they drive the prices for ads torwards higher prices because of the auction system.
As long as there is no real competition on ecommerce ads (facebook serves largely a different market) google has the licence to print money :-)
By the way, we had so much fun in the sand dunes in Death Valley :-)
